At Palladia Farm, we strive to cultivate the full potential of each horse. We care for show hunters, jumpers and ponies, as well as pleasure horses and school horses. Sometimes horses are sent to us for rehabilitation following an injury or surgery. While each horse has a different job, they all receive the same, unparalleled level of care.
We have a large, heated barn with wide aisles and good ventilation. In the main barn, we have eighteen box stalls measuring 10'0" x 15'0" and nine super-sized stalls that are 10'0" x 20'0". We also have an annex with six 10'0" x 12'0" stalls. All stalls have a limestone base for drainage, and rubber mats for comfort and hygiene. We bed our stalls deeply with premium pine shavings and clean them twice a day. Most of our stalls have windows, and all have fans installed for the summer.

Large Outdoor Riding Ring
The large outdoor also has excellent drainage, so we can ride in it even after heavy rainfall. Our second outdoor ring is approximately 100' x 250', with all weather footing. This ring is used primarily for non-jumping activities, i.e., beginner lessons and hacking. When not utilized by riders, its tall, secure fence allows us to use it for turnout.

Our facility includes two outdoor riding rings. Our larger ring measures approximately 250' x 250', and sits atop a knoll. The level base is limestone, topped with large particle sand to reduce dust.

Our indoor arena (80' x 200') sits between the two barn aisles. Having a fully heated indoor riding arena makes it possible for us to ride comfortably all winter long, as well as during rainy weather throughout the rest of the year. The "indoor" also provides relief from the sun during the hottest days of summer. In the fall of 2008, we re-leveled the base and installed new, large particle sand.
|
A heated and air-conditioned viewing area with club chairs and a sofa looks into the indoor arena, providing a comfortable and clean place from which visitors can watch the horses and riders. The clubroom has our favorite creature comforts, including free WiFi Internet access and an espresso bar (though, sadly, no barista). It also houses our tack room, which is fully wood paneled, climate controlled, and secure. Lastly, each boarder receives a wooden combination locker, located in the clubroom, which can be used for storing riding boots, crops, clothes, and other items.

Palladia Farm offers plentiful turnout for its horses. There are a total of eight paddocks--three all weather, three grass, and two dirt. Some horses are turned out in pairs or groups, while others prefer to be by themselves. Each horse goes outside for several hours a day, according to his/her needs and preferences.
|
At Palladia Farm, we believe that each horse has unique nutritional requirements, determined by his or her body condition, workload, and metabolic processes. As a result, we feed each horse according to these needs--no two horses eat exactly the same thing. The largest and most important part of a horse's diet is its forage. We feed top-quality hay, both 100% grass hay and a timothy-alfalfa blend. Some of our favorite grain products are SafeChoice, Re-Leve, and Ultimate Finish. Most of our horses receive Cosequin and a Vitamin-E supplement, and we also feed electrolytes every day.
|
Our number one priority when caring for horses is to keep them healthy and sound. Our position is that horses should not be "worn out" or "used up." As such, we do not pursue short-term veterinary treatments or other therapies designed to alleviate painful symptoms only on a temporary basis. Instead, our focus is on healing the injury. Unfortunately, this view alone cannot prevent ailments.
We have found, however, that daily care, attention, and preventative therapies can drastically reduce the rates of illness and injury. To that end, our horses benefit from the exceptional skill of our veteran grooms, Mr. Luis Franco and Mr. Javier Zepeda, and our favorite therapeutic machines. These include our on-site equine treadmill; our GameReady cold and compression therapy machine; our Centurion electromagnetic therapy system; and a fair amount of good old-fashioned ice packs and leg wraps.
