CABELA
1995 Grey Holsteiner Mare (17.1 hands)
by Cathargo
mid-five-figures

Cabela is looking to take a new rider through the ranks!

This lovely mare is sadly for sale as her owner will be leaving for college in the fall.

Cabela has experienced much success in the jumper ring, earning over $20,000 in prize money at such shows as WEF, Ocala, St. Louis, Kentucky, and Lamplight. In 2007, she cleared 6'9" to take third place in the High Jump competition at the Lamplight Spring Spectacular in Chicago. She has also won ribbons in the novice children's jumper division, the Level 8 Open Jumpers in Wellington, and everywhere in between.

Cabela took her current rider from the 2'6" hunters to the children's/adult jumper division in less than a year. She is quiet, reliable, and requires no preparation at the horse shows. She will jump open water, liverpools, triple bars, fans, grids, and cross country jumps without thinking twice. She has a huge stride, an automatic lead change, and is schooled through third or fourth level dressage. In addition, she is quiet and handy enough to do the equitation courses, and the flatwork is easy for her.

This mare will turn 16 years old in 2010, but she has plenty of jump left. She regularly competes and wins in the Level 5 and 6 classes with a pro, and then does the Level 3 classes on the weekend with her kid. She is incredibly easy to maintain physically (hock and stifle injections once a year), and is never, ever marish--everyone thinks she's a gelding, actually, and we have never had any reason to put her on hormones. Because of her tolerant nature and reliable personality, Cabela would also be a perfect first horse for a rider who is interested in competing in the jumper division.
